Values: First Fundamental
First-fundamental mindset is one that uses fundamentals as basis of understanding, decision, and hypothesis. Fundamentals are the lowest-level idea that couldn't be broken down further. They are usually simple and easily understandable. Good indication of whether an idea is fundamental is when other people could easily understand it; this is because we're subjective and judgmental creature, whether we put that at the surface or deep in heart. We unintentionally blend ideas with opinions; jump to conclusion or solution without deep understanding of the problem. Example: "earth is round" is not fundamental. "Planet is round" is. Using cache is scalability solution is not fundamental. "Reads are faster from cache because of uses of memory" is.
Benefits
Human brain stores information in its short-term memory and selectively choose which ones to move into long-term memory while we sleep. Ideas are easy to be transferred into long-term, easy to associate with existing knowledge, and are easy to grow. So by operating ideas as main object in brain brings several benefits, there are:
Better memory: As ideas are easy to comprehend and associated with existing knowledge, it builds stronger connection in brain.
Better Decision making: As decisions are made with considerations from existing knowledge, having a clear and unbiased set of knowledges and ideas will definitely make better and more objective decision.
Better communication: As ideas are easy to comprehend and usually expressed in light domain-knowledge, it's easier to communicate them to everyone.

I've been practicing this mindset close to a year now and have been applying to this my work. It's fantastic how this improve the effectiveness of my work. One of the big impact that I've experienced is more effective long-term roadmap tracking. Having milestones and progress to speak at fundamental metrics, definitely help me to know lags, progress in the long run.
